About Maher Zain
Maher’s first musical inspiration came from his father, who was a singer himself, performing locally in the beautiful Mediterranean city of Tripoli – Lebanon. Fascinated by the music and instruments, Maher got his first keyboard when he was only ten and ever since music officially became part of Maher’s world.
The family moved to Sweden when Maher was only 8, where he continued his schooling, and later entered university and got a Bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering. With things changing around him, one thing remained the same – his strong passion for music. He would spend late nights at school with his friends where they would sing, rap, compose and experiment with music in every way. It didn’t take him long to realize that music became an integral part of who he is.
After being involved for a while in the music scene in Sweden as a music producer, Maher was introduced to RedOne, a gifted music producer who was fast rising in the music scene in Sweden. Maher started working with RedOne with Swedish artists, and later moved with him to New York. For a few years he was in the middle of the hot rush of the NY music industry, working with chart topping artists such as Kat Deluna on her debut album which included smash hits ‘Whine up’ and ‘Run the Show’.
Maher had what many would describe as a dream job for someone so young in such a glamorous business, but for Maher it felt like this was far from what he would call ‘the dream’, “I loved the music but I hated everything that surrounded it, it always felt like something wasn’t right”. RedOne was on the verge of breaking into the big time, going on to work with artists like Akon, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias, Brandy, New Kids on the Block, and Michael Jackson to mention just a few, and becoming one of the most sought-after music producers in the world. Maher however was restless and eventually decided that the music industry and all that surrounded wasn’t the right place for him and he returned to Sweden. It wasn’t until he met a group of brothers who were active in the Islamic community in Stockholm and he started regularly attending his local mosque that he felt like he’d reached ‘home’.
Maher feels blessed to able to finally find the right way, and feels like it’s his turn now to help others through his music to do the same: “If I had one thing I’d like to tell people out there it would be that it’s so easy to see the right way if we just open our eyes and look properly; that’s what happened to me.”
Debut Album – Thank You Allah
The album will be released in a couple of weeks! This is Maher Zain’s message to his fans:
Alhamdulillah, I’ve finished the recording of the album so I’m taking some time off and travelling. The album is in the final stages of mixing and mastering and will be ready in a couple of weeks inshallah. Remember me in your du’as.

Assalaam alaikum, i think u have a wonderful voice Mash’Allah and music isnt required, that’s what let it down for me!….
Islam forbids music, I hope u can make nasheeds without it, Allah has blessed u with a beautiful voice and iz beautiful az it iz without music! As Islam promotes peace these nasheeds are meant to uplift ur imaan and not make u feel like dancing around like its a pop song.
Im sorry if ive come across harsh but i just wanted to make a point.

Somebody posted the ‘barak Allah’ wedding song to me on Youtube…It was an Amazing song…i found out the artist was Maher and listened to his other songs and MashaAllah every single one was beautiful! i would love an album wothout music because Mahers voice is beautiful and natural by itself! may Allah make all your other works a success. ameen!

First time i heard “Thank You Allah”. I’m so in love with the song it reminds me that ALlah always near us, it makes me want to be closer and closer, it shine my way. so i search for your other song and i really like it. hope i could find your CD in the store at my city so i can buy it. i love to buy the original when i really love the song.

I Must confess that I have come to that age that nothing inspires me other than My Imaan and day to day usual bread earning activities.
Boom goes the bang! Behold here I discover Maher accidentally, in one of my internet search,
Wow! what do I say, totally gob smacked. Couldn’t wait, so went and bought his album Maashalwa what a voice.
Personally I Would like to Thank Brother Maher For your good work. I don’t care what may other people say about your work. You have made me and my family very happy by listening to your album. Keep up the good work.

Tears are still streaming down my face listening to the music of Maher Zain. I have recently opened up my heart to ALLAH after a long and difficult road. I woke up this morning at 5.30am with an overwhelming desire to pray but didn’t know how to. I found prayers I could listen to on the internet and also found Maher. However I have one request that you do not use any other musical instruments other than the diff because that is what our beloved prophet (SAW) said was permissable only .
