About “Ramadan is Here”
One of their group members, Abdul-Malik Ahmad explains:
“We try to provide a fun, enjoyable music alternative to Muslims who wish to be true to their American identity, but want to follow the tenants of their religion. In the video, we travel around the world meeting Muslims of different ethnicities and enjoy the unity and sense of brotherhood that Ramadan brings. In the end, however, we all come together to an American mosque based in Sterling, VA to showcase the new Muslim American culture that is emerging rapidly.”

Native Deen - Ramadan is Here
English Lyrics (and translations) »
Translations:
Arabic
Indonesian
Urdu
[Chorus]
Ramadan is Here (4x)
Yo they sighted the moon, its Ramadan! Now I gotta plan, before it’s come and gone
Getting close to Allah, spend a lot of time. Check the condition of my heart, like a sonogram
Uh… Everybody knows that we gotta fast. But does everybody know how the time is passed?
Is it sleeping all day and the night’s a blast? And forgetting the reward of the month is vast?
I know you gonna wake-up, right. Drinking water maybe bean-pie, praying at sunrise….
Fast in the day, keeping that deen tight. Breaking fast with some dates, taraweeh at night
Alright… it’s a blessed month. It doesn’t mean at iftar, that you can’t have fun,
But strive in your heart, for your Lord the one… And be blessed by Allah, when the month is done.
[Chorus]
Four minutes left, Mom busts in the door, like… Get yourself up, you about to miss Suhur
Turkey bacon on the plate but I’m beefing. I’m up here sleeping, when they’re down here eating.
Scenes like this, it makes me reminisce what it meant growing up with Ramadan as a kid.
My homie’s buying up the corner store. Now or later, quarter waters,
We break at eight but its quarter to four.
They got jokes, like oh yeah he’s fasting. Something about blessings, heaven everlasting
Asking like the Feds up on me, “But dude, let me ask you for real, is you hungry?”
A hunger for the day when the sins on my slate be as empty as the food on my plate.
And if you got jokes, man here is a taste. Take a little fasters breath to the face.
[Chorus]
Ramadan vibrations, more donations. Dinner invitations, many supplications
Good behavior means better reputations. Don’t start nothing, no provocations
No fighting no argumentation. From the fitna and the drama, take a vacation
Mosque is packed with a huge congregation. Some just come as an annual visitation
Some just come for the hum of the recitation. Memorization of revelation,
Less temptation, with more contemplation. Getting ready for the Eid celebration
Shake a lot of hands giving salutations, Salaam Alaykums, peace upon the nation
The world is one, forget the segregation. Another Ramadan congratulations!!

Outlandish – Biography and Selected MP3 Nasheeds
Posted by NasheedsNow in Nasheeds Unleashed on 30. Jul, 2009 | No Comments
JazakAllah to NasheedsNow.com member razislam for requesting nasheeds by Outlandish on the forums. If you are a fan of hip-hop nasheeds you will definitely like the tracks below, they contain strong Islamic and social messages, while maintaining a thoughtful and melodic delivery.
Please note: Outlandish nasheeds contain musical instruments.
About Outlandish
“We started out as 3 friends back in the early 90’s. We all shared the vision of being creative in one way or the other, we found a common passion which was music. We went through many phases to get to where we are today and are still evolving as musicians and as humans. We chose to call our style ‘Life music’ because thats what our music is about. To break it more down we do a blend of: hip hop, folk, soul and pop all mixed with a heavy doze of ethnical elements. We hail from 3 different continents so therefore you will hear some Latin, Arabic and Asian elements in Outlandish. Lyrically we touch alot of topics from love to racism you can say that we are social realistic and we always talk about the society which shapes us all for the better and worse.”
Isam: Vocalist, Rapper, Producer. If Outlandish was a body then Isam would certainly be the brain. He writes the majority of the hooks and always comes up with good topics for our songs. Creatively he has always had the overview of where Outlandish was and is headed. He has had a big hand in the videos that we do. The ideas and the scripts come from him, his best has definately been Walou where he came up with the whole idea and also went to Marroco to follow the shootings. Isam has always been concerned of what happens around the world and doesn’t feel afraid to speak his mind.
Waqas: Rapper, Producer. The heart in the group. Waqas is a sensitive person and a pleassant figure. He has endless ideas when it comes to producing which is his main thing. In the beggining Waqas was known as the angry young rapper as he was agressive in his style. Now he is a completely changed person and artist. Being married and having a son has had its affect on him and has made him more calm and humble in his lyrics, he doesnt feel shy to share his expreriences he has written openly and honestly about the ups and downs of his arranged marrige which has inspired many. One is never bored when in his company and he controls any crowd.
Lenny: Rapper, Producer. The legs and feet of the band. If isam is the brain who controls which directions Outlandish is going, Lenny is the one who puts in the work of making things happen, besides being a tight spanish rapper with always deep lyrics he is always on the case of all the people involved with Outlandish from management to the record comapany, he is the organised one who can always think and see things in advance, Lenny has a great insight in latin music and we always go to him for inspiration as he was the one who came up with the idea of I only ask of God.

M.P.A.C. Hip-Hop Nasheed Group
Posted by NasheedsNow in Nasheeds Unleashed, Requests on 14. Jul, 2009 | No Comments
Received a request for nasheeds by M.P.A.C. Sorry if I haven’t fulfilled your requests yet, I will get to them soon InshAllah. Remember to put your requests in the forum. JazakAllah.
Note: contains heavy use of musical instruments, and M.P.A.C.’s delivery comes out at you hard, so if you are not a hip-hop fan you are unlikely to enjoy this
M.P.A.C. music represents change. It symbolizes a transition in history from conventional conservative methods of expression to more powerful identity-forming methods of self-awareness. Music has the ability to build or destroy the minds, morals, and ethical values of its listeners. Today’s youth, as others of the past, are greatly drawn toward this form of expression. Although, it often guides listeners to positive, its reputation in mainstream society is one of filth, demoralization, and violence. Though many constructive songs and raps have breached this seemingly impenetrable empire, it is needless to say, the bad views have out weighed the good. M.P.A.C. music gears itself toward releasing rap and other forms of music that are positive and educational, while being presented as powerful and attractive to today’s youth Muslim communities. Being Muslim does not imply being out of touch with one’s surroundings. It does, however, encompass presenting oneself with an art form of morality and spirituality.

Jabbar and Ali – The Builderz Album (Hip-Hop)
Posted by NasheedsNow in Albums, Nasheeds Unleashed, Requests on 14. Jul, 2009 | No Comments
A NasheedsNow.com member requested nasheeds by Jabbar and Ali from their ‘Builderz’ album via email. Please don’t email requests to me, they will be ignored from now on, it is easier for me and for other members to keep track of requests if you put them in the request section on the forums
. JazakAllah.
Just a warning…these nasheeds are hip-hop based and a bit liberal in terms of their use of music and lyrics.
Introducing NYC’s own The Lead, a duo of well rounded, gifted artists with a vision of making authentic and original music that sets them apart from the redundant artists and sound so prevalent in Hip Hop today. They bring a broad scope touching on real aspects of life in their music with wit, humor, passion and raw emotion.
This is evident in “Dedication” (a track about Ali Umar’s father and Jabbaruddin’s Mother who have struggled and eventually succumbed to illnesses such as prostate cancer and diabetes/stroke respectively) which calls to remain being strong and determined despite adverse situations. The Lead approaches adversities such as illness and death with sincerity, seriousness and emotional depth. This is evident in their flows, as Jabbaruddin mentions in “Dedication” when referencing to his mother’s illness : “Damn! Why couldn’t it be me ?! Saying Damn ! at least I believe !!!/But that’s a different story/To God give the glory /Trust His decree/No matter what it be/You and me we were both like each other/Now I got to love you like a mother.”
Or in “Bang Bang” where the two explain the situations and reactions of constant oppression, killing of the innocent and injustice. A slow hypnotic sample of a female singing “Bang Bang”… makes the message clear and obvious. In it, Ali Umar explains the outcome clearly: “When Ya kill millions with no remorse/Ya gonna push folks beyond just talk/To the next level into a violent course/No treaties, no handshakes, no smiles no mo’/Cause ya murder innocent women and kids/But support and let the real terrorists live…” and again, in Peep the Visual where The Lead uses their talented wordplay over a warmth and uplifting track…Jabbaruddin opens up : “Peep the Visual/Sweet individual/You looking good like an Angel in the physical !” Continuing is Ali Umar in the second verse: “Whoa ! She looking good with them sandals on/Humming a tune she got from Luther Van Dross’s Song” No doubt this a track about the ideal woman with the ideal qualities… that men talk about.
The Builderz Album, is a showcase of life. How life is really lived, felt, and expressed. The album shows that life is not filled with the monotony of the thug/killer attitude. Neither is it redundant on the aspects of bling bling, ice and jewels. It is a creative masterpiece – compelling powerful and true ! Containing messages and lyrics of profound substance. Words that will reach a person and cause them to laugh, cry, smile and fall in love. React positively and reflect deeply.
As Ali Umar reveals in his attitude he says: “We’re brave family men that are not too hard up to smile, laugh and fall in love. We’re also fighters when the cause is right and just. We just speak on life with heartfelt honesty.” Not to mention the enormous talent they bring to the table ? lyricist, graphic designers, co-producers, and businessmen.
“Were not just rap artists we’re businessmen and musicians…we’re thorough about our message and mission…if we talk and sound different from others that’s because we are…”We talk about what we see, live, and feel. What we taste, breath, and eat…” continues Ali Umar.
“Our intention is to bring back the days of hip hop, we’re coming with 360 degrees of rap, expect the unexpected. With the Builderz Album we’re laying a foundation that anyone can build on” says Jabbaruddin.

3ILM (Arabic word for knowledge) is a hip-hop group that was established in 2006 by five Muslim Brothers who grew up together in Tampa, FL. They saw the need for an alternative form of music from which Muslims could benefit Islamically and mentally. Combining a wide array of instrumental flavors and lyrical styles, 3ILM hopes to reach all people with music that is both enlightening and entertaining. The group also hopes to spread the word of Islam to all people through their music as a form of Da’wah. Although the project is on the come up, the brothers are dedicated to unifying Muslim Minds for the sake of Allah, one song at a time. Non-Muslims will also be able to relate to many of our tracks, such as our feature track, “JUSTICE”. Staying true to their mission, 25% of all profits from their record sales will be donated to Islamic Schools in the Tampa Bay Area. SPREAD THE WORD…SPREAD THE TRUTH…SPREAD THE DEEN.

Blakstone Muslim Hip Hop Group – Dark Dayz Album
Posted by NasheedsNow in Albums, Featured, Nasheeds Unleashed on 30. Apr, 2009 | 3 Comments

Lyrically the three brothers that make up Blakstone are on another level. They seamlessly and persuasively get their message across with a smooth consistent flow that can come hard at you at times and gently at others. Blakstone is a highly diverse group, its members grew up in the Middle East and in the UK, and their parents came to Britain from as far as Sri Lanka, Sudan, Ghana, Morocco, and Pakistan. They are the best hip hop group NasheedsNow.com have heard, so if you are a hip hop fan we highly recommend that you download this album, which they have graciously offered for free to their fansmashAllah!
For information about Blakstone, their upcoming events and performances, and to purchase their other material visit their Myspace @ http://www.myspace.com/blakstonemusic.

About Blakstone
Blakstone’s Music is a sound born out of provocation due the unprecedented suffering of our people (be it in Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Kosovo, Bosnia, Darfur, Gujarat, Kashmir, Angola, Rawanda etc) as well as the continuous subjugation of the impoverished of this earth at the hands of capitalism due to western foreign policy and eastern home-grown treachery.
Simply speaking folks we are sick and tired of governments and so called politicians getting away with murder in all its guises and hence we speak out through our music. If we as a collective can galvanise generation X, if we can make them aware of the atrocities committed in their name, if we can remind them of the hardships that others endure, if we can politicise and inspire them into direct action accountability of government and self, if we can educate and entertain at the same time, if we can peddle knowledge instead of death, if we can murder ignorance and apathy instead of each other, if we can glorify the truth instead of falsehood, if we can rep those without a voice and stand up against injustice and oppression, then we have made a difference, then the collective becomes a movement and a movement is a vehicle for change.
Silence is not an option, change is inevitable and defeat is only a mind state!
Peace!

Nasheeds Unleashed! 17/04/09
Posted by NasheedsNow in Nasheeds Unleashed on 17. Apr, 2009 | No Comments
You may have noticed that some of the Nasheeds we post are categorized under ‘Nasheeds’ while others are categorized under ‘Nasheeds Unleashed’. ‘Nasheeds Unleashed’ is a term coined by NasheedsNow.com to represent those nasheeds that take the concept of a nasheed and present it in a way which is different and unique. In many cases this involves blending in tradition with the contemporary sounds oef R&B, Hip-Hop, Blues, and so on. It is not only based on the distinctiveness of the music that accompanies nasheeds, if any, but more importantly the voice that powers it. The ambition of the artists and their courage in pushing boundaries should be commended.
Hopefully this brings some clarity as to what ‘Nasheeds Unleashed’ is! Enjoy the nasheeds in this post!
You can preview the nasheeds before you download using the NasheedsNow.com audio player located at the end of the post. The files appear in the audio player in the same order as they are listed on this page.
Please rate the post and leave comments! JazakAllah.
