About Amir Awan
Amir Awan is a British composer/singer/song writer who was born on 28th October 1982 in North London, England. He was born into a professional, practicing, Muslim family, and thus Islam has always been an integral part of his life. At an early age, he spent several years at Safar Academy being trained in the art of Qur’anic recitation (Tajweed). After graduating, he was invited to take up a post teaching Tajweed at the Academy. Amir then went on to read a Mathematics degree at University College London (UCL), during which time he began reciting Qur’an at opening ceremonies of various Islamic functions across the UK.
With a vision of sharing his love for Islam with Muslims and non-Muslims alike, and for correcting the stereotypical image of Islam perpetuated in the media, he embarked upon his own spiritual quest, seeking to use his lyrical and vocal ability to share his passion in a creative, fun and contemporary way.
His music which focuses upon spiritual reflection, political issues, and meaning in a confusing world, provides young Muslims with an alternative to the current following of empty and soul-less pop and rap which focus primarily on lust, materialism, violence, drugs, money, gangsterism etc..
Amir has also studied at some of UK’s most distinguished vocal colleges including the Institute of Contemporary Music and Performance (ICMP), where he developed his style and enhanced his flair of singing.

NasheedsNow.com is excited to feature the young upcoming hip hop group Young Ummah!
Young Ummah is a group that was founded at the Harlesden Ummah Youth Club in the United Kingdom by four cousins. Abdul Wasim, 17, and Abdul Hakeem, 15, are brothers who were born Muslims, whilst their cousins Mujahid, 18, and Muhammed, 18, converted to Islam about 2 to 3 years ago, signifying different roads leading to the true path of Islam. Group member Abdul Wasim explains to NasheedsNow.com, “we’ve been through a lot, so we are just trying to pass on the message [of Islam] to the youths of today…that it is not all about the fast life…Islam is the only way”. The purpose of Young Ummah is not only to make Islamic music but to positively influence and unite the entire young ummah all over the UK. Currently, the members of Young Ummah are all students mashAllah. Abdul Wasim is studying finance and accounting, Abdul Hakeem is in secondary school, Mujahid is studying to be an electrician, and Muhammed is studying ICT.
They perform their material in English. Note: Contains musical instruments.

Maher is a 22 year old artist born and bred in Saudi Arabia who produces and sings spiritual music as a hobby. He is currently studying towards a medical degree in New Zealand.
Maher has kindly offered his track, Salami LeL Mustafa, as a free download to our users. Salami LeL Mustafa was written by Maher Alsmail amongst the backdrop of the recent Milad an Nabi (Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw)’s birthday), in praise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw). The track is performed in Arabic. Note: Contains musical instruments.
